Potatoes in Practice 2019

Belchim Crop Protection was represented at the annual Potatoes in Practice event held recently near Dundee on the East Coast of Scotland.

Potatoes in Practice is the UK’s largest field-based potato event, bringing together new variety trials, latest research, machinery demonstrations, trade exhibits and demonstration plots in one place. It is organised by the James Hutton Institute in partnership with AHDB Potatoes, SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College) and Agrii, and is also supported by Potato Review magazine.

The Belchim plots demonstrated current potato desiccation methods and likely future methods post-diquat revocation.
Haulm destruction with and without flailing were shown as well as a demonstration of good and bad flailing of a crop.

Russell Whiteford, local Belchim Technical Manager, also hosted an AHDB Workshop on Haulm Destruction with practical guidance for growers which utilised the Belchim plots and flailing machinery exhibits.
