Empoasca decipiens, Empoasca flavescens and Eupterix atrapunctuata
Symptoms
- Light coloured dots on the upper surface of the leaf
- Dots (smaller than 1mm) spread over the leaf
- Sometimes the exoskeleton can be found on the underside of leaves
- Leafhoppers fly away when the potato plant is disturbed
Pest description
- Adults are wedge shaped insects ~6mm in length
- Green, brown or yellow coloured
- Disperse rapidly when disturbed
- Legs are modified for jumping
- Nymphs are wingless, slightly smaller and lighter in colour
